My Living Room Redo

So here we are it’s 2012 and I’m ready to decorate. Five years ago my husband and I purchased a powder blue sofa from Macy’s in NYC. A month after the purchase, I got pregnant and now five years, two kids and multiple homes later, powder blue is now dove grey…gross. Anyway, we have decided to order a new sofa and in doing so it’s naturally snow balled into an entire living room. Isn’t that how these things happen? Or is that just me? I am a bit obsessive when it comes to furniture and the like. I need a new couch, but the new couch makes the old rug look ratty, so I have to replace it. Now the drapes don’t match …oh hell, lets just redo the whole thing. So here we are, new year , new living room. I’m trying to keep this as affordable as possible because my children are not house broken and since we don’t have a formal living room I anticipate redoing my living room again in another five years. Being the avid Internet shopper that I am, every purchase will be made online.

So excited for flipping out tonight.  I caught half of the sneak preview of the first episode last night on Bravo.  It was great!  Can't wait to watch it again.

Million Dollarr Decorator's vs Edible Arrangements

Million Dollar Decorator's did not disappoint last night.  Extremely entertaining but a bit of a stretch from reality. Mary McDonald turned down a job because the client was tacky and wouldn't listen to her.......really?  Did I mention the 1.5 million dollar budget.  What planet is she on?  I'm not even going to go on a rant about this because it had to be pure fiction. I'm sure it was cooked up by Andy Cohen and the producers to show how outrageous the decorators can be.  Listen, I get it.  I had a client who was so tacky that I didn't want any photos taken of the job upon it's completion  or even a referral from her.  In a business that is based almost solely on referrals I couldn't risk someone mistaking her taste for mine.  But did I turn down the job.........NO!  The money was great and it was a year and a half long project, it was profitable.  I guess that's why I'm not a million dollar decorator, I'm more like a $50.00 one. lol   O.K.  maybe it's true and she did turn it down.  Wow....what a life.  It must be nice.

I'm Obsessed.............

I’m so excited for Million Dollar Decorators tonight.  I can’t figure out who I’m more obsessed with Mary McDonald or Kathryn Ireland.  Why choose?   Can’t I worship them both in all of their decorating glory.  Mary McDonald, where do I start, she reinvents traditional and rejuvenates rustic.  I mean….. Antlers!  Between the antlers, the chevron floor treatment and the Botox she rocks my socks.
